Meet your Clinical Nutritionist, Tori Thompson!

Tori has held a long-standing and curious affinity for science and the microscopic unseen world that resides all around us and within us. As this affinity grew over time, she found that as much as she loved microbes and metabolites…she loved people more! Her work aims to provide digestible information (and foods!) about micronutrients and the types of foods you can incorporate daily, to set your cells up to not merely survive, but to thrive.

Academically, Tori holds a Masters of Science in Nutrition Science from the National University of Natural Medicine. She is trained to assess client diets and use nutrition to help manage conditions like pre-diabetes, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, chronic kidney disease, IBD, IBS, SIBO, as well as supporting fertility optimization and hormone health.

Tori finds the most fulfillment in creating genuine connection—with her clients, their stories, and the deeply personal nature of healing. She views nutrition as a gateway to self-awareness and long-term wellbeing, and she is honored to walk beside others as they return to their bodies with trust and curiosity. Tori is dedicated to lifelong learning and regularly engages with the latest scientific research to ensure her care remains current, accurate, and grounded in evidence. Outside her work, she delights in quiet early mornings, building blanket forts with her toddler, jumping into the Hood River (after some convincing), lingering dinners with friends under string lights, and jotting wild ideas for her next passion project.

My Philosophy

Nurturing comes naturally to me; I care deeply for people, their stories and learning from them. I am committed to the health of the people I work with, and therefor the health of my community at large. I’m qualified to work with individuals across the lifespan, offering nutrition expertise in managing conditions like pre-diabetes, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, IBD, leaky gut, SIBO, as well as supporting fertility optimization and hormone health.

Information on healthy eating and nutrition is abundant, contradictory and sometimes very misleading. Food trends will come and go; I believe in vetted and evidenced-based nutrition science, that which can be measured and repeated. Some food trends and diets can be extreme, restrictive and harmful. I believe in balance, imperfection and practicality when discovering what foods work best with your body. I also respect the power of intuition and subjective data that can often provide a much bigger picture to your overall health.

I live by the philosophy that food is our most fundamental form of preventive healthcare, and the cellular fuel that determines how we feel day-to-day! The particular foods that make up our diet have the ability to add to our life force, or deplete from it. I believe nutrient dense foods have the ability to change your entire physiology; in how you feel and move physically, how you function cognitively and emotionally. Food can provide the sustained energy you need for physical and psychological rigor, and it can provide a deep sense of peace and calm in the body, soothing the nervous system. When poor food choices are made, it can cause a cascade of disease and illness.

I believe your relationship to food is unique to you, beginning with the food you ate with your immediate family as a child, and shaped by the culture surrounding you. Simply, food is your friend and your tool you can use to feel better in your body! Yet, it acts not solely as a source of nutrients - it is also a source of connection, pleasure, spiritualism and sovereignty. As a nutritionist, I want to incorporate those recipes and foods that feel like home to you.

I aim to take away the stigma and mystery of nutrition, and offer information that is applicable to you in your life, to further empower you to take care of your wellbeing!
